2023 Ford Maverick Gears Up For The Trails With Tremor Pack
  • The 2023 Ford Maverick debuts a new Tremor off-road package, which will be available this fall on XLT and Lariat trim levels.
  • The Tremor gets a new four-wheel drive system, a one-inch lift, special front and rear springs and dampers, and Trail Control.
  • The Tremor package costs an additional $2995 on top of the price of a Maverick XLT or Lariat.

Ford launched the highly anticipated Maverick last year, a new entry point for Ford pickup trucks with the base XL model starting at just $22,490 and standard with a hybrid powertrain good for an EPA-estimated 42 mpg on the highway. The Maverick has proved a success, with 13,258 homes in 2021 and 38,753 additional sales in the first half of 2022. Now, Ford is expanding the Maverick range for 2023 with a new Tremor off-road package.

The Tremor package is only available on the more expensive XLT and Lariat versions equipped with the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder. pick-up more proficient off-road by being able to send almost all rear axle torque to both wheels. The Tremor will have five riding modes depending on the type of terrain or if the driver is towing, with the Tremor rated at 2000 pounds and carrying 1200 pounds, 300 pounds lower than the base Maverick.

The Maverick Tremor also features Trail Control, where the truck controls the accelerator and brakes to maintain a driver-set speed while navigating tricky off-road situations. The Tremor gets a one-inch lift and rides on unique front and rear springs and dampers, while upgraded half-shafts and a heavy-duty transmission cooler should improve durability when the Tremor is lifted off the pavement.

Orange accents distinguish the Tremor, with the bright color on the grille, wheels and front tow bars. Those tow bars sit in a redesigned front bumper with steel skid plates and a steeper approach angle. There are also darkened Ford logos and tinted headlights and taillights, while the 17-inch wheels are finished in a dark gray anodized finish and come with all-terrain tires. Inside, the Black Onyx seats feature orange stitching and Tremor logos. Buyers can also specify a Tremor Appearance package, with the roof and mirror caps painted charred gray and black graphics on the sides and hood.

The Tremor costs an additional $2995, and the Tremor Appearance package adds an additional $1495 to the bill. These prices are in addition to the base price of a Maverick XLT or Lariat, with the 2022 models starting at $24,835 and $28335 respectively. Production of the 2023 Maverick will begin in the fall and the Tremor will be available to order in September.
