HOUSTON – A child has died after a cement truck reportedly lost control and went off an overpass and landed on another vehicle in northeastern Harris County Friday afternoon, deputies said.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office officials said the accident happened in the main lanes of Frontage Road heading south on Beltway 8 near Woodforest Boulevard.
According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, it appeared that the large truck traveling on the main roads of the ring road had apparently veered off the bridge and landed on its side on top of the other vehicle.
Four people, including a child, were in the car. Three of the occupants were able to get out on their own.
Sheriff Gonzalez said a child, possibly 10 years old, was trapped in the vehicle, causing the crew to cut them out.
