DHS pedestrian hit by car, seriously injured

At about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Desert Hot Springs Police Department officers responded to reports of a pedestrian who had been seriously injured after being hit by a car.

Based on statements and evidence at the scene, officers determined the driver, a 64-year-old
Desert Hot Springs resident drove east on Ironwood Drive along Ocotillo Road in a Chevrolet Cobalt.

The pedestrian was standing next to a parked vehicle in front of a residence on Ironwood Drive. For unknown reasons, the driver drifted to the other side of the road, hit the pedestrian and pressed her against the parked vehicle.

The pedestrian has been taken to hospital. According to the police, alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the accident.

The Desert Hot Springs Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating.
