GoFundMe started for Good Samaritan who was hit by a car while trying to help crash victims in Colorado Springs, suspect still at large

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – As the search for a suspect continues, a young woman has a long way to go to recover after trying to help others.

Police said a good Samaritan was among a group of people trying to help drivers in an accident at about 3 a.m. Sunday on N. Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway. That Good Samaritan has been identified as Tori by friends. While Tori was trying to help others, she was hit by a car and the driver continued to drive.

“Tori is like a daughter to me and she had a terrible accident Sunday morning,” Christy Dunfree wrote on a GoFundMe page. “Tori is a wonderful person and always goes out of her way to help others. She was the Good Samaritan (she had stopped to help victims of a car accident) who was the victim of a collision with a pedestrian on May 15 in Colorado Springs. Tori will be in hospital for a few weeks and is being treated for serious injuries. Tori is looking forward to weeks of healing and a long recovery.”

Dunfree set up the GoFundMe page with a goal of $10,000. By Wednesday afternoon, the effort had raised more than $1,000.

The last time this article was updated, police had no information about the suspicious vehicle involved in the accident. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 719-444-7000.
