TURLOCK (CBS13) – De Good Samaritan who sprang into action and pulled a man from a burning car was found in Turlock, but the police say they wish to remain anonymous.
Early in the morning of April 15, a man with life-threatening burns was found in an alley off the 200 block of D Street in Turlock next to a burning car. Police said it appeared someone pushed through the flames and rescued him from the back seat.

Whoever rescued the man did not stay at the scene. Still, the police wanted to talk to that Good Samaritan and thank them.
On Tuesday, Turlock police announced that that person had come forward at the urging of a friend.

“We were honored to meet and personally thank this hero who risked his own life for someone else. He saved the victim’s life without regard for his own safety and well-being,” Detective Brandon Bertram said in a statement. “The guy said he just knew it was the right thing to do.”
Police say the person who rescued the Good Samaritan is recovering from his injuries and is currently in a medical coma.
It is still unclear what exactly caused the fire, but investigators say arson is not suspected.
