Honda Cars India registered domestic sales of 8,188 units in the month of May 2022. The company registered a growth of 302.9% compared to 2,032 units in the corresponding month in 2021. The brand registered a growth of 418.7% in exports with 1,997 units sold in May 2022, more than 385 units last year.
Commenting on the May 22 sales performance, Yuichi Murata, Director, Marketing and Sales of Honda Cars India Ltd., said: “Demand for Honda cars remained strong as positive sentiment prevailed in the market, but the lengthy supply chain -related issues still remain a barrier and we are doing everything we can to meet demand effectively.”
He further added: “Our latest launch of Strong Electric Hybrid in the mainstream segment, the New City e:HEV, has received an overwhelming response, far exceeding our original plan, demonstrating that customers show a strong preference for such advanced technologies in the area. performance, environmental friendliness and safety. We are grateful to our customers for their continued support of the Honda brand.”
Honda City has always remained the best-selling car in the manufacturer’s vehicle range in India. Recently, the hybrid mobility brand kicked off with the launch of the new Honda City e:HEV at a starting price of Rs 15.03 lakh (ex-showroom). The fully loaded ZX trim costs around Rs 19.49 lakh (ex showroom) in the Indian market.
The 2022 Honda City e:HEV hybrid is powered by an Atkinson Cycle 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to two electric motors. The engine delivers peak power of 126 hp at 2,000 rpm and maximum torque of 253 Nm. Honda states that the City e:HEV has a fuel consumption of 26.5 kmpl and a range of 1,000 km.
