Hyundai Motor Group wins multiple awards

The Hyundai Motor Group (the Group) won several awards in 2022 at the Autocar ‘Britain’s Best Car Awards’.

The five awards include three product awards for the EV6, Best Electric Car, Best Large Car and Best Affordable Driver’s Car, as well as individual recognition for the Group’s Executive Design Advisor Peter Schreyer and Hyundai’s Global Design Head SangYup. Lee.

The Group’s hard-won status as a leader in the automotive industry in design and product development is reaffirmed by the award ceremony.

Commenting on his award, designer Peter Schreyer said: “It is an honor to receive this Lifetime Achievement Award.

“I have been fortunate to have been involved in many projects during my 40+ year design career and have had the privilege of working with some very talented teams to develop vehicles that resonate with customers around the world.”

“In 2006, I had the opportunity to join Kia and was given the freedom to come up with a sought-after design brand. It was truly an enriching moment in my career.

“Thanks to the Group’s visionary leadership and the trust they have placed in me, we have led the transformation of the Hyundai Motor Group and created a legacy on which the company can build for the future.

“Since then I have been involved in many successful programs for the Hyundai, Kia and Genesis brands, and I look forward to continuing my work for the Group,” he added.

The Autocar Awards honor the industry’s top performers and, for the first time, some of the best cars for sale in the UK across ten categories.

The Hyundai Santa Fe SUV was named ‘Best Large Car’, while the turbocharged i20 N was named ‘Best Affordable Driver’s Car’, according to the jury. The EV6, Kia’s first dedicated battery electric car, has been named ‘Best Electric Car’ by Autocar, adding to the car’s astonishing list of awards since its premiere last year.

Che Young Kim, Head of Product Division at Hyundai Motor Group, commented: “Winning in these highly competitive product categories is a significant achievement for the Group. It’s a testament to the hard work it takes to produce industry-leading products, and the great individuals we have who lead and work on our design and product development teams. The Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai i20 N and Kia EV6 may be very different cars, but the same ingenuity and technical prowess goes into their creation.”

On receiving his ‘Design Hero’ award, Hyundai’s SangYup Lee said: “Looking back at the past winners of Autocar’s Design Hero Award, it is a real honor to sit next to some of the people I consider my own. design heroes. Thank you to the Autocar team for recognizing the work of the Hyundai Global Design Center with such a prestigious award.”
