Man killed by car in Georgetown tried to be 'Good Samaritan', coroner says

GEORGETOWN, Kentucky (WKYT) – Police say a person was killed in Georgetown Monday night after being hit by a vehicle.

It happened on Champion Way between Lexus Way and This Way Home Drive. That’s not far from I-75.

The coroner says the victim was driving when he saw some debris on the road. He parked his car on the side of the road, removed a broom from his vehicle and swept debris from the road when he was hit by another vehicle.

The coroner described the victim as trying to be a “Good Samaritan.”

The victim was taken to hospital in Georgetown, where he was pronounced dead. The victim’s name has not yet been released, but the coroner says it was a 28-year-old man from Scott County.

The road has now been reopened.

This is a story in development.
