Porsche, Tesla and Kia Top Auto Express's 2022 Driver Power Brand Survey

Quality, performance and style are more important to owners than value for money, according to the latest research from Auto Express Driver Power car brands.

Following Driver Power’s individual model rankings, Porsche beat Tesla and Kia to take first place in the annual ranking, with owners celebrating the pleasure of impeccable styling and finish, driving pleasure, details such as satellite navigation and infotainment systems and even practicality and trunk space. in larger models.

More than 60,000 owners rated their cars in the Driver Power survey based on a range of characteristics, with value for money lagging behind most of the other qualities drivers enjoy.

Auto Express said the theme of interior comfort and driving pleasure is maintained over value with Tesla taking second place, despite 44% of owners reporting errors and admitting that they are not impressed with the styling of their cars.

Steve Fowler, editor-in-chief of Auto Express, said: “There is much to celebrate for European brands in our brand-level survey after Far Eastern brands recently stole the show for individual model ratings, showing that the UK car market is truly global.

“The results show that driving pleasure and general usability is still better than saving a few pounds when it comes to living with a car, despite the rise in the cost of living.

“It’s also fascinating to see that there doesn’t even seem to be a correlation between even a relatively high percentage of minor issues and ownership satisfaction. Apparently many owners don’t let mistakes spoil their fun.”
