As a writer and editor who deals with organizing and cleaning beats, I can’t get enough of a good problem-solving product. And I thought I knew (and bought) them all: the clear shoe boxes to store everything from light bulbs to gift bows. The divided organizers for bliss in the junk drawer. The lazy Susans for my herbs and spices. You know the drill.

But then I came across a solution to an annoying problem and it really touched me: The Stop dropping. Sent from heaven, this brilliant $25 gadget fills the gap between your car seat and the center console. You know, the abyss that swallows everything from pens to chicken nuggets and everything in between. Literal.

Note: you can use the drop stop in two days with Amazon Prime. No member? Sign Up here for all the entertainment and shopping benefits Amazon offers. Member now? Get car tools in a jiffy so you can stop fishing for things between your seats ASAP.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve dropped my iPhone into the abyss. And then I had to dig it out, scratch my hands and mess up my manicure or worse, have to stop the car to move the seat and dig it up (talk about first world problems).

As featured in my all-time favorite show, Shark Tank, the Drop Stop seat gap filler will solve your butterfinger problems from now on into eternity. And it’s a lot safer than searching for things while driving.

Made of soft neoprene, the drop stop adapts to the opening of any car and squeezes into a quarter inch to 3 1/2 inch space. And the material wipes clean easily (I know this because a Werther’s Original popped out of my mouth and onto the Drop Stop – but at least it didn’t fall into the gap, never to be seen again!).

Not convinced it’s necessary? You may need to grab a flashlight and check the crevices of your car to see what’s inside. Then we’ll talk.

Now let’s discuss all the random things that can fall into the hole: credit cards, keys, loose change, earrings, mascara, almonds, bottle caps, pens, gum, candy wrappers, mints, rings, gummy worms. Need I say more?

As a mother of two, I’m always in the car commuting the little ones back and forth. And the things that have fallen into that gap are incredible. From lanyards to Shopkins to M&Ms and markers, the list goes on. But not anymore!

since the drop stop is black like the rabbit hole, it’s nice and discreet – I hardly notice it’s there. To install, simply slide it over the belt buckle (there is a slot). It even moves with the seat as you move forward or backward.

Each pack comes with two universal fit Drop stops — one for the driver’s side and one for the passenger’s side. As if this genius product wasn’t enough, you’ll also get two free gifts (I won’t spoil the surprise for you).

This is one of those products that I never realized I needed because I didn’t know it existed. But now that I have one, I will never go back to leave my hole unattended. Will you?
