Skoda Octavia has passed the milestone of 1 lakh sales in India. This mid-sized sedan was first launched in 2001 and the Octavia is one of the longest running nameplates in the country.
Skoda Auto India today announced that its Octavia has passed the milestone of 1 lakh sales in the country. This mid-sized sedan was introduced worldwide in the year 1996 and Skoda made its Indian debut with the Octavia in 2001. Over the years, the Octavia has undergone several major updates and is one of the longest running nameplates in the country.
The Indian subsidiary of this Czech car manufacturer recently delivered the 1.01.111th example of the Octavia to a customer. Skoda claims that the Octavia is the best-selling car in India to be assembled through the parts and components route. It is also the best-selling Skoda car in the world. Speaking of generation updates, the Octavia is currently available in its fourth generation avatar in the country.
The first generation Skoda Octavia was launched in India in 2001, followed by the VRS in 2004. The Octavia was the first product of Skoda India. In 2005, the new generation Octavia was introduced as the Laura, which received a facelift in 2009, while the original Octavia was continued until 2010. Skoda introduced the third generation Octavia in 2013 followed by a midlife update in 2017. Finally, in 2021 the current fourth-generation Octavia launched in India.
