Tata Motors, the major passenger vehicle headquartered in Mumbai, is moving forward with a robust wholesale sales of 47,654 vehicles in the month of September, up 85 percent from the same period last year.
Sales of passenger cars include 43,999 IC vehicles (+78% yoy) and 3,655 electric vehicles (+239% yoy).
For the second quarter of FY2023, Tata Motors’ wholesale sales were 1,42,325 units, up 70 percent from 83,933 units in the same period last year.
The company has actively promoted its products and its strategy of introducing special editions has worked in its favor.
Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility said: “The PV industry witnessed strong demand during Q2FY23 fueled by the holiday season and new launches. Tata Motors hit new highs in passenger cars with sales of 142,325 units during the quarter, up ~70% from Q2FY22.”
“The company also achieved its all-time high of 47,654 monthly sales in Sep’22, an 85% growth from Sep’21. Led by record sales from Nexon and Punch, SUV sales contributed approximately 66% to quarterly PV sales. In the electric vehicle space, the company posted another record sales of 11,522 units in Q2FY23, a growth of 326% from Q2 FY22. With the recent launch of the Tiago EV, the company has opened up new perspectives and is poised to drive the mass adoption of EVs across the country. Going forward, we expect the festive season to be accompanied by strong retail prices as a result of an improving vehicle supply.”
