It is impressive to see that the Escalade has been around for over 23 years and has striven throughout its life to be the ultimate symbol of luxury and performance. But for a change, the big muscular SUV from Cadillac has gone all in for the pursuit of power.
The result is the first-ever Escalade SUV to show off the V-badging, producing a whopping 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft. And the acceleration figures of this luxury three-row SUV will make even the better sports cars sweat! While these parts are enough to make the latest Caddy on the block special, we explore even more interesting parts of the Escalade-V.
A seriously powerful vehicle with huge performance figures, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V has it all, from a luxurious interior, impressive acceleration and technology; all gathered in a dashing design.
Everything we know about the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V
The SUV’s first-ever V badging has several advantages. The carmaker now offers a selectable V-mode for drivers, which can also be adjusted in terms of driving performance, and the ride height is also lowered by 0.8 inches. Thanks to a launch control function, the SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds.
Apart from this, the side profile of the car shows off beautifully with its sheer length and massive 22-inch wheels that fill the archers. Electronically limited standard Magnetic Ride Control and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension are available as standard, and V-series badging is also available for the exterior and interior. For example, the driver, the passenger doors, the tailgate and the steering wheel are equipped with the V badge.
A supercharged engine derived from the CT5-V Blackwing
For a vehicle that weighs over 6000 lbs, it certainly needs a powerful engine to carry its mass and do some towing. Cadillac claims it is the most powerful full-size SUV that one can find, which may be an easy claim given that most full size SUVs don’t have a performance version yet.
This Cadillac uses a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine, similar to the CT5-V Blackwing’s engine, meaning it can produce 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and the SUV is mainly offered as four-wheel drive.
In some cases, the vehicle can send up to 70 percent of the power to the rear wheels because it has a locking differential on the rear axle, but in most driving scenarios it’s split into 50-50. The hand-built engine delivers enough performance to accelerate the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds, an impressive number considering the overall weight of the SUV. The inclusion of air suspension also makes the ride soft and comfortable.
Signature Cadillac Escalade-V . Design
The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V is one of the largest SUVs with a length of 227 inches and a height of 76.5 inches. In addition, the vehicle has a wheelbase of 120.9 inches and a width of 81.1 inches, leaving room for passengers. In terms of design, a massive grille, LED headlights and vertically stacked LED daytime running lights give the car a sharp and wider appearance.
The V is also offered in the ESV variant that bumps the wheelbase to 134.1 inches. The V-trim gets all the darkened elements to increase the sporty appeal. The lower half of the front bumper also features a functional splitter that improves aerodynamic efficiency. Apart from this, the front is loaded with sensors and radars suitable for autonomous driving.
The mirrors have a contrasting finish and a clever addition is the electronically placed footboard that aids effortless entry and exit. The rear is immaculate, with the wiper tucked neatly, and the large vertical taillights emphasize the height of the vehicle. Lower down, the rear bumper has a diffuser-like treatment, and the four tailpipes, either side of the bumper, make a roaring sound.
2023 Escalade-V’s beautifully designed interior
The Escalade-V is Cadillac’s flagship, and the interior is where this is most apparent. One of the attractive features of the interior is a curved OLED screen that takes up almost 38-inches of space. In addition, the carmaker offers a luxurious interior with fine leather and soft-touch material in the cabin. Apart from this, a bit of aluminum has also been used on the speaker grill and some switches.
There is adjustable mood lighting that enhances the overall atmosphere. In addition, the carmaker is adding a 16.9-inch diagonal color information display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The flagship SUV also features a 36-speaker AKG sound system and gets some driving aids useful in modern times. There is the inclusion of standard autonomous emergency braking along with pedestrian detection.
Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist are also part of the package, and Cadillac’s exceptional SuperCruise function enables autonomous driving. Overall, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V has a great presence on the road and an engine to match its brawn. Its comfortable interior and advanced technology make it an attractive choice in the luxury full-size SUV segment.
