We highlight three of the best pre-owned luxury electric cars you can buy in 2022. Make the most of your money and drive something you love.
The 2017-2019 Tesla Model S is one of the most exciting used electric vehicles

Of course there will be a Tesla model on this list, and the full-size Tesla Model S is no stranger to “best buy” rankings. Multiple versions were available for 2017, 2018 and 2019 Tesla Model S cars, so you should have plenty to shop for. When looking for a used Tesla EV, consumers can choose from a standard, four-wheel drive and performance version. All models in the lineup offered a range of at least 210 miles. The impressive 2017-2019 Tesla Model S Long Range offered a range of up to 370 miles when new.
Luxury electric car batteries lose battery power over time, so a used Tesla Model S range probably won’t last as long as brand new. Still, this used luxury electric car should offer plenty of room to roam.
The 2017-2019 Tesla Model 3 is a more affordable used luxury EV
The cheaper and smaller Tesla Model 3 arrived in 2017 as an affordable alternative to Tesla’s best-selling EV. This is an excellent choice for a used luxury electric car if you can find one. 2017, 2018 and 2019 Model 3 electric cars all offered a minimum range of 220 miles when new. The Model 3 Long Range had a larger battery and offered a range of up to 310 miles.
Used models are more likely to see lower range, so pay close attention when buying a used EV. An older Tesla Model 3 with over 30,000 miles on board is more likely to see less than 200 miles of total range. An EV battery can last 10-20 years, according to experts, so you should get a lot more mileage out of a used luxury electric car.
The 2017-2019 BMW i3 is a surprisingly good choice for a used electric car

I feel like the BMW i3 electric car is being passed over these days. Admittedly, it has a compact and stocky body style and the i3 EV was discontinued at the end of 2021. But the BMW i3 hatchback was designed with eco-friendly cabin materials and it was quite fun to drive. Early models in BMW electric history only offered about 80-115 miles of electric range, but performance increased to about 152 miles.
You could also opt for a BMW i3 with a small gas engine to extend its range. The heavier hybrid-electric car took a hit in the overall EV range, but the total combined range (gas + electric) was an impressive 200 miles. Do not count a used BMW i3. You may find exactly what you are looking for.
