These are the best features of the 2022 Honda Insight

HondaThe sedan’s flagship sedan, the Honda Insight, is the main successor to the legendary Honda Civic Hybrid, with similar shapes and styling cues. The Honda Insight has undoubtedly come a long way since its first-generation entry, which stole hearts with Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist system. In fact, it was the first model of its kind to feature this advanced system, along with a 67 horsepower engine, resulting in a fuel economy of 64 MPG.

After a slow death in sales in 2013, the Insight left the scene after the 2014 model year. After a 4-year hiatus, it re-entered the market in 2018. The Brand Over the years, the Honda Insight has evolved into a precious sedan and the ultimate Toyota Prius killer. Now, for the 2022 model year, the Honda Insight promises unwavering power from its gas-electric powertrain. Like a Civic brother, the Insight offers its iconic exterior shape, along with a much quieter interior and, as you would expect, better fuel economy. The insight also copies the Civic’s technological refinements. But falls a bit short in acceleration. Furthermore, the Honda Insight should be a pleasant everyday driver.

Following the third-generation refresh for the 2018 model year, the Honda Insight retains the same great design. Also, no major changes have been made to the insight for the 2022 lineup, other than the discontinuation of the LX trim. The 2022 Honda Insight hit the market in mid-2021, picking up where its predecessor left off. Aside from the slight price increase, the compact sedan with a hybrid powertrain continues into the 2022 model year. The 2022 Honda Insight competes with the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata and other four-door sedans.

These great features make the Honda Insight one of the most practical, reliable and stylish sedans.

The 2022 Honda Insight: Powerful powertrain and low fuel consumption

The Honda Insight’s fuel economy is one of its best features, thanks to its powertrain. At the heart of the Insight Hybrid is a 1.5-liter inline-4 gas engine, which produces 107 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 99 lb.-ft of torque at 5000 rpm. The engine alone is small, which has advantages in terms of fuel consumption. The electric end of the Honda Insight consists of an AC synchronous permanent magnet electric motor, delivering 129 horsepower over a range of 4000 to 8000 rpm and torque up to 197 lb.-ft at a peak of 3000 rpm. Combined with these power systems, the 2022 Honda Insight produces 151 horsepower, which is sent to the front wheels via a 1-speed direct drive.

While the lineup has the same engines, the two finishes available have different EPA ratings. The Insight EX’s lower trim level delivers an estimated EPA of 55 MPG in the city and 49 MPG on the highway. These EPA estimates are among the best in the compact sedan segment, putting the Honda Insight on par with the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE. Insight’s high-end trim, the Touring, makes 51 MPG in the city and 45 MPG on the highway. While no better than the Hyundai Sonata, the Touring’s fuel economy still beats the 2022 Kia K5.
