These are the best-selling cars in the world

The UK’s best-seller is the Ford Transit Custom bus, but the rest of the top ten is mainly a mix of compact hatchbacks and crossovers led by the Vauxhall (Opel) Corsa. The UK is one of the countries leading electric vehicle (EV) adoption and the Tesla Model 3 was that country’s third best-selling vehicle in 2021. The Model 3 was the world’s most popular EV in 2021 with sales of about 501,000, and the top – car sales in Norway.

China also had an EV as its best-selling car in 2021, with the Wuling Hongguang mini EV switching 426,480 units.

SA still lags far behind the battery-powered car trend, selling just 218 EVs last year, although that was more than doubling from the previous year.
