Only the Toyota Urban Cruiser and Renault Kiger saw positive monthly sales growth last month
In April, monthly sales of the subcompact SUV segment fell eight percent. The Tata Nexon kept its lead, followed by the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue. These top three models account for nearly 65 percent of monthly sales, with the rest being split among the other five models.

Tata has sold more than 13,400 units of the Nexon, down six percent from March 2022. Market share has grown nicely at about 12 percent, with an average six-month sales figure of 12,000 units per month.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza clocked 11,764 units in April, down five percent. The SUV has just under 10,000 units per month as an average over six months.

Sales of the Hyundai Venue have fallen from 9,220 units in March to 8,392 units in April, a six percent drop. It also saw a six percent drop in market share, from about 23 percent.

The Kia Sonet takes fourth place on this list, but is nearly 3,000 units away from third. Monthly sales and market share of the Kia’s SUV have plummeted by more than 20 percent and five percent, respectively.

MoM sales of the Mahindra XUV300 are down just under five percent, which is just below the six-month average of sales.

The Urban Cruiser is one of two subcompact SUVs that showed sales growth, the Toyota by about 14 percent. Monthly sales have increased by about 500 units.

The Renault Kiger is the other subcompact SUV to grow, but this time at a less impressive five percent.

Last place is taken by the Nissan Magnite, which despite being one of the most affordable cars on this list, lost a whopping 1,000 units, or just over 33 percent, in sales this month.
In summary, the overall segment is showing a decline in sales of eight percent or about 4,500 units.
