With petrol and diesel prices continuing to rise in June, the fuel economy of vehicles has come under intense scrutiny.
Diesel, Super and Special now all cost more than Dh4 per litre, according to the latest prices set by the government.
the national takes a look at five of the most fuel-efficient vehicles on the road in the UAE.
Suzuki Dzire
Price-conscious drivers like to drive the Suzuki Dzire because of the value it offers.
The Japanese car gives drivers 24.12 kilometers per liter (km/l) and if you buy a brand new car, you are back in the region of Dh36,900.
Suzuki Swift

In second place is another Suzuki, the Swift, which according to Drive Ninja, a comparison site in the UAE, reaches 23.75 km/l. This makes it an attractive choice for those trying to squeeze as much value as possible out of their fuel spend.
The price of a brand new model starts at just under Dh49,000.
Suzuki Baleno

Fuel-conscious drivers could also do a lot worse than take a look at the Suzuki Baleno, which hits 22.35 km/l.
To buy a new Baleno you will have to pay about Dh45,900.
Toyota Yaris
Suzuki’s stranglehold on this list breaks the Toyota Yaris, which gives motorists 22 km/l.
Buying a brand new one will cost just under Dh60,000.
Toyota Raize

The Toyota Raize is another popular car with car owners being aware of what they are spending at the pump as it delivers around 12mph.
Be prepared to pay around Dh57,000 for a brand new model.
