Recently we reviewed a stunning Dodge Charger restomod that was designed in part with its owner, Ralph Gilles. Gilles is the head of design at Stellantis and has been the man behind cars such as the Chrysler 300C and the revamped Viper. It got us thinking. What is the most beautiful restomod you have ever seen?
Mostly, restomods are associated with muscle cars like the Charger. Gilles’ Hellucination is certainly worth mentioning, but it isn’t original either. Ring Brothers has built similar vehicles and not long ago we reviewed Kevin Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner. Of course, not all restomods are muscle cars.
Legacy Trucks build one of the world’s most capable and tough Dodge Power Wagon restomods in the world. Aside from a 350 hp (261 kW) diesel engine, it has an updated chassis, suspension, braking components and more. Icon builds you all kinds of beautiful classic vehicles such as the Bronco or the Ranger with modern chassis.

Mind you, resto modding is not just an American hobby. The Cyan Racing Volvo P1800 is finally coming to the United States with a dazzling $700,000 price tag. It is undoubtedly beautiful and thanks to Cyan it is very fast.
There is also no shortage of places to get a Porsche restomod these days. Evomax, Strosek or Theon Design will all build you a custom 911. Singer has almost graduated from restomod maker to something higher and has even partnered with Porsche itself.
Japanese products are not off the table. Prodrive recently announced a project that will see an updated restomod tribute to the sacred Subaru Impreza WRX rally car that started the brand’s longstanding success in the WRC.
But keep one thing in mind. The car we’re looking for doesn’t have to have mainstream recognition. Maybe you’ve found a restomod hiding in your hometown or witnessed something really special at a local auto show or cars and coffee and want to give the owner some recognition. So, what’s the best restomod you’ve seen? Let us know in the comments below!
