Why the 2013 BMW X1 remains a great used car option

The BMW X1 is a five-seat premium small SUV that has been in production for two generations, from 2009 to the present. The first generation, known as the E84, was in production from 2009 to 2015, and the second generation, known as the F48, has been in production from 2015 to the present.

The BMW X1 crossover offers attractive handling characteristics, lower running costs compared to its siblings, and plenty of luxury appeal. His abilities make him more useful in crowded and crowded locations, but he is just as capable on the open road.

The 2013 BMW X1 comes in three trim levels to match engine choice and whether rear-wheel drive (sDrive) or all-wheel drive (xDrive). There are the sDrive28i, xDrive28i and xDrive35i.

Under the hood is a 2-liter turbocharged inline-4 that produces 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. BMW gave the car an eight-speed automatic transmission and a stop-start system that shuts off the engine to save fuel during periods when the vehicle is at rest.

According to BMW, the X1 sDrive28i cab goes from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, with the all-wheel-drive xDrive version just 0.1 seconds behind. They also claimed that the X1 xDrive35i could sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds.

The X1 handles well on twisty roads. There’s a delicate balance between low-speed ride comfort and high-speed stability. The X1 feels significantly more agile and responsive than its competitors due to its smaller size and lower center of gravity. The driving experience of the X1 is comparable to that of a sedan, but can improve the performance of the BMW 3 Series Saloon.

The interior of the X1 is opulent, with a dashboard layout and layout similar to that of the 3 Series. The interior is well designed, with ample headroom in both seats. The 2013 BMW X1 is reliable and has decent safety features

The 2013 BMW X1 comes with anti-lock disc brakes, front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. Other safety features include active head restraints in the front seats, stability/traction control and Hill Descent Control.

Optional equipment includes front and rear parking sensors and a rear view camera. BMW has added the BMW Assist emergency communication system, which provides automatic crash reporting, stolen vehicle recovery and on-demand roadside assistance.

Thanks to these features, the IIHS named the 2013 X1 a Top Safety Pick and gave it the highest rating of Good in four crash evaluations. It achieved the IIHS’s second-highest Marginal score in the small-overlap frontal crash test.

According to US News Cars, the 2013 BMW X1 was ranked No. 1 based on its score in the luxury subcompact SUV category of 2013. They gave the car an 8.6 out of 10, which is based on their research and data elements.


Since the X1 has similar components to the 3 Series, most of the issues are shared. It has few flaws if properly maintained and can work for many years without any problems. The only issues drivers report are parking brake failure, turbo failure, and engine warning light.
